Crystal Optic Capabilities

Crystal Optic Capabilities

G&H produces, orient, fabricate, and finish a variety of optical crystals which are used in lasers, Pockels cells, Q-switches, acousto-optic modulators and beam deflectors, harmonic generators, and waveplates.

As pioneers in crystal growth techniques and supplier of special crystalline materials and related components and services, we produce many different crystals from a variety of materials.

Beginning with the raw chemicals we grow, orient, fabricate, finish, coat, and mount

  • Beta Barium Borate (BBO)
  • Cadmium Sulfide (CdS)
  • Cadmium Selenide (CdSe)
  • Potassium Di-hydrogen Phosphate (KDP)
  • Potassium Di-deuterium Phosphate (KD*P)

G&H also grows Lithium Niobate (LnNbO3— often referred to as LN), which we offer as wafers, AR coated Pockels cell crystals with electrodes, and as Periodically Poled (PPLN) harmonic generators.

Additionally, we grow Tellurium Dioxide (TeO2) for our acousto optic devices.

We manufacture our crystals to work in optical components such as acousto-optic modulators, lithium niobate Mach-Zehnder modulators, Q-switches, waveplates, and harmonic generating crystals.

G&H’s crystal growth capabilities extend over a significant number of materials and two continents

Our crystals comprise the basis for many of our own products.

Our LiNbO3 production line started in 1967, producing the first commercially available material.

Our customers include manufacturers and research laboratories which require the highest quality components for cutting edge applications. Large KDP and KD*P crystal plates grown, cut, and finished by G&H are in use at NIF and CEA.

Proprietary crystal growth optimization software enables us to supply custom crystal solutions for your project

We routinely produce crystals as large as 41 cm x 41 cm x 1 cm for internal confinement fusion (ICF) applications, as well as crystals as small as a few mm in cross-section for microchip laser applications.

As an ISO registered organization, we have a mandate that we meet or exceed our customers’ expectations by providing reliable, high quality products and services, on time with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Customer collaboration

Close collaboration with professionals and students has helped guide our development and focused us on the needs of the industrial, educational and governmental sectors.

Laser manufacturers rely on G&H to provide the highest quality crystal materials manufactured to specification. They benefit from our assistance with design recommendations to arrive at technically advanced, innovative, and cost effective solutions to meet the demanding requirements of modern laser systems and optical instrumentation.

We enjoy using our expertise, knowledge, and skills to work with customers to enhance their components, sub-assemblies, and systems.
